Also weather conditions play an important part in development of the fruit. The quantity of rain, sun, and heat are important factors in development of the size, form and taste of the fruit. Furthermore, the location of the farms has an important job to create the fruit is sweet, lovely fresh taste. A good example would be our special tomatoes, that are grown near the sea, which gives the tomatoes a taste of salt, combined with this special sweetness which characterises the taste of the Daily Greens tomatoes.

Another example is our DG Iceberg lettuce, which is grown in a small village in Murcia, called Aguilas. Our fields being protected, by their location right by the sea, from the cold weather, and from the inland against the cold and rain, by the mountains that surround the village. Due to these circumstances, the area has a special microclimate, which ensures that in this area, there is always 2-3 degrees warmer than 20 km inland, meaning that during those cold winter months, our quality tends to be better than the lettuce grown in other production areas. From the other side, the soil has an important part to play in the quality of the lettuce grown in Aguilas. The soil being full of stones, filters the excess of rainwater, which ensures that after heavy rains the water doesn’t pool of water, on the fields, which in other areas tends to cause quicker rotting of the lettuce.

The suited conditions help also to reduce the chemicals, making the cultivation more sustainable for the environment and healthy for the consumption. Therefore we want to make our contribution and help the growers with a proper supply plan, just to ensure that we can provide you with the best possible quality, taken into consideration the weather conditions of that growing season.
